In mid-November, World Pediatric Project, in collaboration with Mount St. John Medical Centre Antigua, embarked on a week-long Rheumatic Fever/Rheumatic Heart Disease screening program led by cardiologists Dr. Scott Gullquist and Dr. Kerri Carter of Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU. A total of 21 elementary schools were visited and 730 students were screened for these potentially deadly conditions. We extend a huge thank you to the Ministry of Health, Wellness, and the Environment in Antigua and Barbuda, for hosting the first of these screening programs to be held in conjunction with the Clinton Global Health Initiative.
