In November, Baby Danzel was born in St. Lucia with a tracheoesophageal fistula, a terminal condition if not surgically treated. With no pediatric surgeons able to perform this operation in St. Lucia, WPP’s network went into action to bring Danzel to Richmond right away, certainly not easy during a pandemic.
Ten days ago, after an arduous journey wrought with customs delays and nearly missed connections, Danzel arrived safely in Richmond, VA. | A week ago, Danzel underwent surgery at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU and, within days, had learned for the first time to take a bottle like a champ.
This past Tuesday, Danzel and his mom, Sandy, traveled back home to St. Lucia, just in time for the holidays – a Christmas wish come true for their whole family.
Here’s a special message from Danzel’s mom expressing her gratitude to everyone who made this possible:
Thank you – because as a part of the WPP family, you are responsible for this Christmas Miracle. Danzel and Sandy and so many other families are celebrating the holidays filled with joy because of the life-changing care you make possible through World Pediatric Project.
Wishing you and yours a blessed holiday season.
